Homestead Linen Stitch Blanket Pattern
This chunky linen stitch blanket knitting pattern is easy and it’s made with lovely, chunky yarn! It works up relatively quickly with large needles and a repetitive pattern. The classic, woven look is simply stunning!
See the full free pattern below, or you may choose to purchase the ad-free printable on Etsy HERE or the kit from Lion Brand Yarn.

If you’ve followed me for a bit, you might remember my “Woven Look” Knit Blanket pattern made with color changing yarn that also uses the linen stitch. It has the coolest look and patterning with the various colors and the visibility of the individual rows. However, it is time consuming to make with the smaller yarn and small needles. I know some of you set it aside because of the time it took!
The linen stitch creates a high quality, tight fabric, which I just love. Even my daughter was impressed when she saw this blanket! It’s still not the fastest stitch on earth, but it’s as quick as it can be with this blanket AND worth it if you love a tight stitch.

I know many of you are like me in thinking that sometimes the easiest and most basic patterns can be the most beautiful. This is an example of that, with just a two row repeat throughout.
It’s named the Homestead Linen Stitch Blanket because the simplicity reminds me of something you could see on Little House on The Prairie. 🙂 It’s got a pretty, femine look and feel, yet it’s also super durable and usable. Fun right?
The understated ruffle happens naturally on the border, without having to increase or decrease.
Okay, let’s get to this pattern!

Pattern Notes:
This pattern uses the knit linen stitch. There are many tutorials that can be found online for this stitch by conducting a simple search.
Feel free to practice on a small swatch before beginning the blanket by simply casting on an odd number of stitches and working the pattern.
The pattern calls for circular needles in order to comfortably hold all of the stitches on the needles, but keep in mind the blanket is knit flat.
The blanket features a seed stitch border. The border is 8 stitches on either side and 14 rows on the two ends. Consider placing a stitch marker at beginning of each border in order to more easily follow the pattern.
Customizing the size: To adjust the length, simply follow the pattern until your blanket is the desired length. To adjust the width, simply cast more or fewer stitches while keeping an odd stitch count. Keep yarn needs in mind when adjusting the length and width of the blanket. Have fun!
