Grand Tetons Moss Stitch Blanket
This beautiful moss stitch blanket crochet pattern is a modern classic with it’s clean lines and earthy colors!
See the free pattern below, or you may choose to purchase the ad-free, printable version on Etsy HERE or the kit from Lion Brand Yarn HERE.
If you’ve followed me for a while, you might know that the moss stitch is one of my all time FAVE crochet stitches. It’s very easy, but the result has the look of almost woven or a knit fabric.
What I really like about this throw blanket is how it is super versatile. I think it would work great for a man or a boy! But my daughter helped pick these colors out, so it really goes for anyone. AND you can make it with any two colors you love!
This past summer, we visited the Grand Tetons in Wyoming, and they are truly breath taking. I always appreciate the Rockies which are out my window, but the Tetons just rise out of the earth like nothing I’ve seen. This blanket is named after that beautiful place.
If you’ve never crocheted the moss stitch, aka granite stitch, you can see my picture tutorial HERE to check it out.
There are also a zillion tutorials that you can find on YouTube. Learn the stitch, then come on back here to make this blanket!
For this pattern, I used a new yarn, Lion Brand Heartland Thick & Quick. I absolutely love the worsted weight Heartland yarn, so I was excited to try this out.
This yarn actually reminds me more of Lion Brand Hometown USA, which I also like it use! It’s a great option for those of you who don’t want to use wool, but want a chunky weight yarn.
You can see the pattern below, but remember that you can also buy the ad-free printable version in my Etsy Shop HERE.

Pattern Notes:
This blanket is crocheted from the bottom up using the gorgeous crochet moss stitch. Consider carrying your yarn up the side of the blanket to avoid weaving in ends when possible with the 2 row color changes.
Size Adjustments: To adjust the width of your blanket (as written it is approximately 42”), you will want to start with a longer or shorter chain using an even number of stitches. To make your blanket longer or shorter, you’ll simply crochet more or fewer rows until your desired length is reached. Keep yarn needs in mind if you adjust the size of your blanket.
Important: Consider practicing on a small swatch before beginning the blanket. Simply chain an even number of stitches and work the pattern as written.
Ensure that your hook size is 10.0 mm as the letter size doesn’t always correspond to the same mm. Adjust as needed to meet gauge.
Have fun!
