Heritage Blanket Knitting Pattern
This knit blanket pattern is a beautiful heirloom, stitch sampler style, where you get to work a variety of textures. Each of the stitches are easy, but the result is a blanket that you can be proud to gift as a timeless piece.
You can see the full, free pattern below, or you may choose to purchase the ad-free printable version from Etsy HERE or the kit from Lion Brand HERE.
It can be hard to find patterns that look special, but are simple to make. This blanket will show off your knitting talents, but it isn’t going to stress you out. Working section by section, from the bottom up, you’ll be on a journey of simple, beautiful stitches.
As soon as you’re ready from a break from working seed stitch, you’ll jump into an easy garter stitch section.
The largest portion of this blanket is taken over by the lovely Irish Moss Stitch. It’s the star of the show, becuase LOOK AT THE TEXTURE. 🙂
And what about this color?! In person, I would describe it as a warm, dove grey. The color listed says a pale greenish, but I don’t personally see that very much. Honestly, any of the colors of the chunky Hue + Me yarn would look amazing with this pattern. I loved how the color Arrowwood turned out on my Seamless Knit Quilt.
If you are comfortable with knitting, purling, and counting stitches, you are ready to work this blanket.
You’ll knit the Stockinette Stitch, Garter Stitch, Seed Stitch and the beautiful Irish Moss Stitch. The Irish Moss stitch is a favorite of mine – it just turns out so incredibly cool and looks so impressive.
Many of you might remember my Easy Heirloom Blanket pattern. I wanted something similar, but also something with a bit more variety. So, this is it! The Easy Heirloom was knit with super bulky yarn, while this one calls for chunky weight yarn.
