Such fun texture with such a simple stitch and lovely yarn colors.

I still absolutely love the Blanket Stitch, and so when I was coming up with a pattern for this lovely yarn, it’s the first stitch that came to mind.

By the way, I LOVE using natural fibers when making special gifts for friends and family. They often get expensive, so it’s not always in budget. But today’s blanket is made with a lovely cotton merino blend yarn. It’s a really nice option if you’re looking to make something that is all natural!

And as always, you can sub with any comparable yarn that you are able to find or have in your stash. In this case, you will want light #3 yarn (or worsted #4) for the blanket.

Aren’t these colors so springy and fun? Lion Brand sent me samples of the new Cottino yarn, and I was trying to pick which colors I’d like to put together for a blanket. At first, these colors made me think of strawberry lemonade. Lol! I decided on them because they are happy, fun, and just look summery together.

This is the smaller lapghan size option. With the larger size, the stripes will be vertical.

Okay, let’s get to this fun pattern!

And before you begin, feel free to check out my blog post and video of the Blanket Stitch HERE! This is all you need to know in order to make your Spring’s Blanket!

And don’t forget that you can out the ad-free, printable version for sale in my Etsy shop here if you like to have a hard copy! Enjoy!

Adjusting Size:

You can easily make this blanket wider and longer by starting with a longer chain and crocheting for more rows. Your beginning chain must be in a multiple of 3, and you’re good to go!  Keep yarn needs in mind if you adjust the size of your blanket.

Spring’s Blanket Crochet Pattern

Follow the pattern by simply working through each skein of yarn (be sure to start any new colors at the beginning of a row). See photo for color order if making the blanket with pictured colors. Finish with the optional, single crochet border.

Ch 114 (228) with Tumeric (or any color you’d like)

Row 1 2dc in 3rd ch from hook, *sk 2 ch, sc in next ch, make 2 dc in same ch stitch. Repeat from * to end of row, sc in final ch st of row.

Row 2 Ch 2, turn, 2dc in first sc st, *sk next 2 dc, sc & 2dc in next sc; repeat from * across to end of row, sc in top of turning ch 2 at end of row .

Repeat row 2 until you run out of yarn, or blanket is 30”(54”).  Feel free to crochet for more rows if you have enough yarn and would like a larger blanket!

Border (optional):

With the color “Goose Down”, or your chosen color, pick up yarn in the corner of the blanket.  Work single crochet stitches evenly around, working 3 stitches into each corner.  Repeat this pattern for three rounds in total. At the end of the final round, skip a stitch, slip stitch, and tie off. Weave in ends.

Block to shape and size as desired.

Isn’t that easy?!

Enjoy your beautiful, new blanket!

I hope you liked today’s light blanket option. It’s a little rare for me to post blankets with lighter yarns, but I’m getting better at it – maybe!?
