We recently visited Yellowstone National Park and went to one of the more famous sites, the “Grand Prismatic”. It’s a hotspring pool that has an incredible variety of colors and is simply magical.
The colors in this blanket remind me of that wonderful place. Hence the name the Woodland Prismatic came to be!
It’s been a minute since I used the crochet block stitch, but it’s such a modern pattern. It can be a bit of a pain though because to get the cool effect, you need to use at least two colors (which means color changes). Noooo!! I sorted out that issue by using a color changing yarn. 🙂
You can simply work away, changing skeins as you finish them. It’s AWESOME. No color changes, and no weaving in ends. Boom!
The colors that I chose are quite rustic together, which makes for a cozy, beautiful mountain cabin feel. However, you can choose any colors you like to make your blanket!
Okay, let’s get to this beauty!

Pattern Notes:
This blanket is crocheted from the bottom up using the gorgeous crochet block stitch.
Size Adjustments: To adjust the width of your blanket, you will want to start with a longer or shorter chain using a multiple of 3 stitches + 1 extra. To make your blanket longer or shorter, you’ll simply crochet more or fewer rows until your desired length is reached. Keep yarn needs in mind if you adjust the size of your blanket.
Color changes: Simply change colors when you finish a skein of yarn. You will alternate between the two colorways as you go. There is no need to change colors at the end of each row as the color changing yarn does the work for you!
*The striping patterns will vary depending on which colors you begin with due to the nature of the yarn! If you are wanting to begin with a particular color, and your skein doesn’t start with it, simply wind the yarn until you are at the desired color. Save this yarn for later in the pattern when needed.
Enjoy!
