Two Stitch Easy Knit Blanket

GORGEOUS! Today’s easy knit blanket features two simple stitches and neutral colors to make it eye catching and unique. Watch the colors fade together as you work simple stripes in either a throw blanket or baby blanket size. (Free pattern below, printable version available in Etsy HERE, full kit available HERE)

If you’ve wanted a mindless, easy knit blanket pattern, here it is! The “Two Stitch Fade Blanket” is knit by alternating one section of garter stitch, followed by one section of seed stitch. It’s a great blanket if you’re looking for pure relaxation, without any need to think. I’m all about no thinking these days. 😉

It’s also great for beginners who want to master their knit and purl stitching, as well as basic color changes.

How about these cozy colors that blend together as your eye goes down the blanket? It reminds me of the latte I had this morning actually. Ha!

The Skein Tones yarn is really great to work with if you’ve never tried it. It’s a worsted weight #4, and is a soft acrylic with just enough sheen. However, you can use any #4 yarn that you like, and any colors as well! This could make a great stash buster with your random skeins of yarn left after the holidays.

I wrote the pattern out so that you can make this in two sizes, either a baby blanket size, or a throw blanket size. It’s such a versatile pattern because of the color options and size options. Also, you can totally make this in any size by just casting on more or fewer stitches and knitting until it is as long as you’d like!

If you follow me, you know I gravitate to the chunky and super bulky yarns. It was high time that I make something with the worsted weight variety, so I hope you like this one.

How Do I Knit A Throw Blanket or a Baby Blanket?

See the free pattern with specifics below, but to make a blanket, it entails casting on a number of stitches that makes your blanket the width you’d like. From there, you will knit until you reach your desired length.

With the Two Stitch Fade Blanket below, you’ll see that you will alternate a couple of stitches and make color changes for the striping. It’s super easy to customize your knit blanket!

How Many Stitches Do I Cast On For A Blanket?

It totally depends on which size you’d like to make. If you want to make the baby blanket, you will cast on 132 stitches using US Size 8, 36″ circular knitting needles. If you’re making the throw blanket size, you will cast on 196 stitches.

Gauge:
Approximately 13 sts and 24 rows in 4” x 4” of seed stitch pattern

Pattern Notes:
• This blanket’s knit from the bottom up, and uses the garter stitch and seed stitch patterns.
• Follow the pattern as written, changing colors as indicated when the correct length is
reached for each color section.
• Make all color changes on RS (right side) rows.
