My stash is full of half skeins of super bulky yarn from all of my past projects. I also tend to buy skeins when I’m out shopping and see colors that I can imagine using at some point.
It was time to use up some of this stash, and what’s better than granny squares for stash busting!
There are two things about this pattern that make it unique and extra fun. One is that you can use any colors you like from your stash, and the other is that it’s made up of three different granny square patterns.
If you love grannies, or have wanted to try them, this is a great blanket to work different patterns and see which ones you enjoy the most!
Each and every square is so unique that I never got bored! That’s saying something because I do get bored pretty easy with big projects.
You’ll use a classic granny square pattern, a solid granny pattern, and a flower pattern.

I of course will list out the exact color combos and yarn that I used for each square, but the point of this pattern is that you can use any super bulky yarn in your stash.
It’s so nice to just crochet a square per day, or whip some out when you feel like it. Before you know it, you’ll have enough to seam them together into this beautiful quilt.
Lastly, don’t get caught up in my colors unless you’re trying to make the exact same blanket! Use the colors you have in your stash. That’s the fun of it!
And make it as large or small as you like! Simply crochet more or fewer squares.

With the larger crochet hook and the color “Cincinatti Red”, seam using a flat slip stitch seam (pictured) to join the squares (or you may use any seaming method you’d like.)
Border
The border was crocheted by working one round of single crochet stitches followed by a second round of single crochet stitches worked through the back loop only. Make three single crochet stitches in each of the four corners. Feel free to continue the pattern to make a wider border if you’d like!
Enjoy!
