Flower & Daisies Blanket Crochet Pattern
Big, squishy, sunny blooms make for a cuddly blanket!

After making my Meadow Flowers Crochet Blanket a couple years ago, I wanted to make an equally colorful version that was quicker. The flower square is the easiest ever, so I wanted to use the very same pattern. Enter the Sunny Blooms Blanket!

It took some planning, because I wanted a lot of color, but didn’t want the blanket to get too expensive because of too many colors and skeins of yarn! It makes an AMAZING stash buster for your super bulky yarn. Because it features so many colorful flowers, you can use up all those little bits that are left from winter projects.

Make this your own! With the daisies, zinnias, and more, the sky is the limit with the color variations and flowers you can have in your throw. The square even seems to have a different look with different color pairings.

Chunky Flowers Blanket Crochet Pattern

Each square is over 9″ inches wide! In only four rounds, you make a quick, easy, chunky flower square. This is seriously one of the most fun patterns I’ve ever worked on because of the instant gratification and color.

What Yarn Do I Use For The Sunny Blooms Flower Crochet Blanket?

For this pattern, you will use a super bulky #6 yarn. I used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick because it’s washable and it’s a soft wool blend.

There are also a ton of color options! You can choose any 6 colors that you like. Or you can use more colors from your stash! You might want to stick with a yellow hue for the center of the flowers, but that’s also completely up to you.

Okay, let’s get to this flower and daisy granny square tutorial and pattern!

Flower & Daisy Square Tutorial

First, make 12 double crochet stitches with yellow into the ring. Next, make 2 double crochet in each space with the second color.
Next, simply make 3 double crochet in each space around. So easy!
The final round, with three treble crochet, ch 2, three treble in each corner. Only 4 rounds and you have a square that’s a whopping 9″ wide!

Once you’ve got your squares all done, you will use the beautiful Flat Slip Stitch seam to put them all together!

Seaming crochet squares
The flat slip stitch seam is functional and adds a beautiful detail! Use your larger hook to make the seam.
All the squares seamed together! You can use any of the colors to make the seams.

Onto the pattern!

Next, move onto Assembly.

Assembly
Using the larger hook, sew your squares together as shown below using a flat slip stitch seam. You may use any yarn colors that you like! Feel free to modify your seaming method as well.

Note that the larger hook is used for the seams as the seams tend to be tight and pull the fabric together. The larger hook will help avoid this! Adjust your tension if necessary.

Assembly: Place your squares together as pictured, or any way you like!

Border (optional)

Using your leftover yarn (pink & green pictured), make 3 dc in each space around blanket. In each corner make 3 dc, ch2, 3dc. Work one round, tie off and weave in ends. Block if desired. Feel free to add tassels or poms as well!

That’s it!!

Cuddle up in your squishy flower blanket!
