Colorado Prismatic Colorful Blanket Knitting Pattern

This stunning, colorful blanket knitting pattern is made with self striping yarn and it’s super simple to knit. It’s rare for me to share worsted weight knitting patterns, but I couldn’t resist putting a color changing yarn to good use! Read on…
Find the free pattern below, or you may choose to purchase the ad-free, printable version on Etsy HERE or the kit from Lion Brand HERE.
My crocheted Woodland Prismatic Blanket has been popular, so I wanted to make a version for knitters. As with any pattern that uses self striping yarn, it is easy as pie because you just work through each skein of yarn. No color changes needed!
And I just LOVE this Desert Springs colorway. Isn’t it cool? The blanket is inspired by western landscapes – sunrises, sunsets, the wilderness, and the natural world. Can’t you see it adding some rustic, colorful charm to a chair or sofa? This isn’t a blanket that will go unnoticed.
By the way, you can totally make this blanket in a solid color worsted weight #4 yarn! Feel free to make it your own. The stitch pattern would really pop with a solid color.
The pattern features a modern look with clean lines and square textures. Blocks, squares, and checkers are timeless, but they are also trending big time.
Self striping yarns are so fun. Do you also remember my Painted Sky Blanket (here) with self striping yarn? Isn’t it the best when you don’t have to change colors and weave in a bunch of ends…okay, you get it. I don’t love color changes lol!
This colorful knit blanket is available in two sizes. You can make a lapghan size, or a large throw. The lapghan size also doubles as a baby blanket! And the yarn is soft enough for babies and toddlers. But again, use any worsted weight yarn that you like.
Definitely check out the stitch pattern below, as you’ll see it’s easy to work. Feel free to practice on a small swatch before beginning so you get a feel of things! There are directions in the “Notes” section on how to do that. The yarn can be splitty, so you will want to take care with your stitching a bit more than yarns that aren’t.
Okay, let’s hop to this pattern!
