Touch Of Alpaca Luxury Yarn Giveaway!

It’s fall, which means holiday knit and crochet time and we need more yarn, right? Yes, my stash is overflowing but there can never be enough this time of year. 😉  Lion Brand Yarn is here to help out and has kindly offered to give away three skeins of Touch of Alpaca to one of my readers! Their three new luxury yarns are gorgeous and include the Touch of Alpaca (here), Touch of Mohair (here) and Touch of Merino (here). You might remember that I’ve used the Touch of Alpaca in a couple of projects including the Serape Ruana and the Light Alpaca Poncho. It’s SUCH a nice yarn to work with and the color choices are some of my faves. If you’re the lucky winner, you’ll receive three skeins in the color of your choice. Yay!  I’m itching to try the mohair too so hopefully I can share my feedback on that yarn really soon. 🙂  Oh! And you can currently use coupon code LUXE20OCT to receive a 20% discount on these yarns over on the Lion Brand site. 😉

You can check out all the color choices here. 🙂  The thing I most appreciate about this yarn is that you get the soft, fuzzy look of alpaca but no shedding.  Shedding yarn is typically a deal breaker for me so I was thrilled to find that this yarn didn’t shed.  No fuzzies flying around and getting in my mouth and eyes, thank you very much. 😉

So are we ready for the giveaway?! You’ve only got a few days so scroll down to see how to enter for your chance to win below. 😉

  2. Oh my! What beautiful yarn! Actually I’ve really been wanting to try alpaca! I’ve been watching reviews on this, Lion Brand Touch of Alpaca, as well as a hand dyed shop that I love that’s recently started carrying Alpaca silk. I just need to find it in a store to feel before I buy… or win some to test out. Fingers crossed

  5. I never really understood the love of knitting/crocheting until I started working with luxury yarns. Its like having a Coach purse vs one you picked up at Target (don’t get me wrong their purses are great, but Coach just makes your body zing). Alpaca yarn is great, alpaca with a bit of acrylic makes a great easy to care for lasting garment. For those on the edge about purchasing a more expensive luxury yarn, don’t waver and just do it. There will be no regret. I would love to win a few skeins of this yarn. I love giving scarves and blankets to my friends made of beautiful yarn.

  6. I would love to try alpaca yarn! Since I’m allergic to wool, the other fibers are always interesting!
So this is a nice giveaway, and I’d love to win!!

  44. Your site is always SO inspirational! I’ve made the Light Frost Blanket Sweater – and one of my girls may just get that for Christmas! I was hoping to make two more before Christmas – so all would get one, but I fear I won’t finish in time…..I can’t understand why my crochet is so slow!
Feels like I’m stitching right along while I’m doing it, but it takes me so much longer to finish anything! I need to find a way to speed up my hooking so I can get more done! It’s a big downer when it takes me so long to finish anything!
Thank you so much for all you share with all of us! You are an inspiration to all! and it IS SO APPRECIATED!

    1. Duh! I totally missed your question in my first comment…

  68. Would l♡ve to knit or crochet a sweater for my HAIRLESS Chinese Crested with this PAWSOME yarn! She will be sooooo warm and cozy!

  75. Oh wow! Way to go, Lion Brand!

In the 15ish years I’ve been knitting, I have only gotten to knit with luxury yarns maybe two or three times, as my finances just never allow me to spend on the luxury yarns. So I know Lion Brand yarn very well as it is readily available at my big box craft store. I’m very excited to see that they’ve come out with a luxury yarn that I can only believe will be a bit more affordable. I would love to win this giveaway and try out their new yarn!

    Thank you for the opportunity!

  76. Hi there,

I’m open to trying any kind of luxury yarn – love the colors! Thank you for the giveaway!

  77. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your work. I wish I was retired and could crochet all day!!! LOL. It is truly an addiction. is there a crocheter/knitters anonymous? 🙂

  78. Ooo……lovely colors! I love the three sample patterns you selected, they would really show off this beautiful yarn. Hope I’m the lucky winner!

  79. Would love to try the beautiful yarns and the sample patterns are gorgeous. I’m really loving the color choices.

  81. I would LOVE to win this yarn for the alpaca cashmere rose pink (I think, it’s just hot pink); this shade is my daughter’s favorite color of pink and I am eager to make her something crocheted. I have a pattern for a hooded scarf that would be beautiful in that shade:)

  82. First of all, I love your work! You’re patterns are beautiful and easy to follow. Thanks for the opportunity to win by the way! I would love to try the alpaca. I’m always afraid to try something new, but I’ve read good things about it.

  83. I would love to try out a cashmere wool…maybe even make something for myself with it (for a change!) 🙂

  84. My grandmother first taught me the basics of knitting and crocheting when I was in grade school. I never made the time to do more with either until recently. I’ve refreshed my memory on the basics, and thanks to your blogs, emails and free patterns, I’m loving and doing more crocheting than ever before! Thank you for sharing your passion with yarn.

  85. Hi Jessica

I have been following you for about a year now. I have pin a few of your patterns on my Pinterest account (I follow you on here). I just entered the giveaway, first time doing that. I’m currently working on a oversized shrug using the Touch of Alpaca (taupe color – receive pattern and yarn from Lions Brand website). I’m almost done with it. So I hope I win the giveaway! 🙂

  86. I have so many to try since I’m new to knitting. . . but once I get really good. I want to blow the wad on some Clinton Hill Cashmere. . . or maybe a lovely Indie dyer who only sells on Etsy. . . I’m obsessed with Life (or Living) In The Longrass. Lion Brand, in all honesty, is my favorite store brand of yarn. . . mostly because of their amazing website! If you haven’t looked – you are missing out! So resourceful, tons of ideas, sales, FREE patterns of newer styles (like you) and traditional ones too (like my MIL).

  87. I’ve never tried Alpaca, so I’d like to try that. I’d also like to try a bamboo/silk yarn.

  88. Yes! I’m just learning to hand dye yarn for the simple pleasure of it, I bet this yarn would be so beautiful speckled. How lovely!

  89. I’m slowly making my way thru Lion Brand’s entire roster of yarns and am evermore impressed. Would love the chance to try a touch of alpaca!

  90. I would love to try Touch of Alpaca! I have used other alpaca yarns, and, you are right, it does shed. Alpaca feels great!!!

  91. I would like to try knitting with silk and beads someday. Thank you for all your great patterns and a chance to win 🙂

  92. Enjoy getting your newsletters and love your patterns! This yarn is an indulgence; fingers crossed – I have just the project for it! Thanks for the chance…

  93. I’d love to try any hand spun hand dyed yarn. I’ve never tried any yet. One of these days!

  94. I have been wanting to try this Touch of Alpaca yarn. However…to get my hook around some Merino…that would be awesome!

  95. Would love to try the LB Alpaca!
P.S. I have almost completed your heirloom knit blanket! Love it so much. Thank you for your beautiful knit patterns. Keep them coming!

  96. I am so excited to try this yarn! I love you pattern and have such a fun time trying them out!

  97. Thanks for all the beautiful patterns and for doing this give away! I’ve been wanting to try this yarn. I’d love to see Lion Brand Wool Ease!

  98. I love your newsletter and patterns.
I’ve worked two of your projects and I’d love to win this yarn to make a shawl for my daughter for Christmas.

  99. I love Lion brand yarn and my latest favorite is Jeans. It works up so soft and it fits in perfectly with my penchant for using mostly neutral colors. This Alpaca would be almost enough to make your poncho…I would probably need to buy just one more to complete it. I made your circular blanket with the Mandala yarn and I never finished a project so quickly, I couldn’t wait to get to the other colors. Thanks for all your great patterns.

  100. Hope I will be the lucky one to win. I’ve knitted for 41 years but have never used beautiful yarn like this. I also used to live in Colorado, loved it, beautiful mountains, awesome weather.

  101. I’d love to try Alpaca yarn. Or silk. I love texture and soft silky texture is the best!

  102. I like Lions brand yarns , will be looking for these in my stores. Thanks for the chance to try…

  103. I would love to buy some cashmere and make something to wear around my neck like a cowl, scarf, or shawlette.

I have used this LB yarn and it is delicious. It is so soft and shows the stitches beautifully.

  104. What kind of luxury yarn would I like to try some day? How about any and all of them?!? Seriously, there are so many exquisite yarns out there, I wouldn’t know where to start. I have never tried Alpaca or Cashmere, though, so those would be nice.

  105. I love Merino and alpaca so I’d love to try a Merino and alpaca blend yarn especially chunky or bulky weight.

  106. I would love to try alpaca yarn, and a silk blend yarn. Thank you for great patterns and this wonderful giveaway!

  107. I have heard such good things about this yarn and would LOVE to try it. I want to make the Merlot Wrap as it looks lovely and so comfy. It would be such a luxurious knit in the Alpaca.
    Thank you for the chance.

  108. Enjoying your blog. Hoping to find the time to make all of your gorgeous patterns. Alpaca is so soft and would love the opportunity to use it should I win.

  109. I would love to try out either the Touch of Alpaca yarn or the Touch of Merino yarn.
I have previous experience using angora and mohair yarn and can still recall the “thrill” of having the fine bits of fiber from the yarn landing in my eyes, nose and throat and as a result only being able to knit on a project using angora or mohair yarns for short periods at a time due to the fibers getting into everything, however, the end product was always beautiful and extremely warm during our northern Ontario winters.
I would love to try knitting with any of the 3 new yarns that claim not to shed the fine fibers during the knitting process – in which case I will be a happy convert and would be eager to buy the 3 types of this new yarn.
    That’s all for now, Nancy

  110. Thank for the chance to win! I love working with alpaca and these colours are beautiful! And you have so many great patterns, thank you for sharing them.

  111. I’m making a hat with some cashmere in it now. Someday I’d like to work with buffalo yarn.

  112. I wish that the touch of alpaca yarn was 100% natural alpaca but I did like it’s softness. I guess if it was 100% the cost would be a pretty penny. Thanks

  113. I want to try a cashmere blend luxury yarn. For like a scarf or cowl that would feel wonderful.

  114. I’d love to try anything higher end. I’m mostly stuck with acrylic and wool right now. Mainly because I’m learning and I dont want to waste good, expensive yarn. I really would love to have some cashmere yarn to make myself something, but at $40 a skein… sigh… it’ll have to wait.

  115. OK, so I’m going to use the 20% coupon and start shopping!! I prefer warm colors.
    Thank you

  116. I love working with Alpaca yarns. When I’m done, my hands are as smooth as my project! And you have so many patterns that would make the yarn would look great!

  117. I’m new to crochet, I did a few projects and one of them was the poncho. I hope I’ll win.
    Thank you for the patterns.

  118. I’ve always wanted to create something out of camel yarn 🙂
Thank you for offering this giveaway! Love your blog and patterns!

  119. Lion Brand Yarn is really wonderful. Now that they are adding these luxury fiber options I love it even more!

  120. Mmmm…luxury yarn. I say that Touch of Alpaca sounds pretty luxurious to me. Hello cozy.

  121. I’d love to try an alpaca blend……saw some at a recent market but have no idea what I’d make!

  122. I’ll work with almost any yarn – the fun is learning how the yarn behaves. Even crocheted mouse toys for the cats out of the undercoat of the Maine Coon. An alpaca blend would be nice.

  123. My dream yarn is either vicuña or guanaco. They’re related to the alpaca/llama & only available in South America. Even there they are rare & extremely expensive. But I’ve read that they are the softest animal fibers on the planet…softer than cashmere. I don’t think I’ll ever be so lucky. My folks went to Peru & were unable to find any while there. But one can always dream, right?

  124. I would love to try some Peace Silk someday. It’s spun from cocoons that were allowed to mature and hatch. Happy moths, happy me!

  125. I want to try all the luxury yarns! I even consider yarn from indie dyers luxury yarn! I love Expression Fiber Arts and I’m dying to try Fiber for the People, I Love Violet And Live On A Farm, and everyone else!
