Basketweave Snuggles Blanket Knitting Pattern

This special Basketweave Snuggles Blanket is a simple, beautiful, piece that is definitely heirloom worthy. The texture is soft, and eye catching, and the blanket it washable and totally customixable. I think it’s the perfect christening blanket as well!

It’s definitely cuddle worthy!

See the full free pattern below for the Basketweave Snuggles Blanket, or you may choose to purchase the ad-free, printable version on Etsy here, and Lion Brand also created a kit from my pattern HERE.

At the beginning of the year I asked you what types of projects you might like to see from me, and while there was a huge variety, baby items came up quite often.

So soft and luxurious…ahhh

It’s true that I’ve designed a lot of throw blankets at this time, but not too many baby blankets (the Mae Ribbed Blanket is probably the best known). I wanted to make one that is really special, and one that I would love to gift or use for my own baby. So here we have it!

Any hand knit blanket is a special gift, but we are upping the ante here with the intricate looking basketweave. This isn’t hard, but it does require you to count your stitches!

If you’re wondering if you’re ready to move beyond stockinette to this pattern, give it a try on a small swatch first! I’ve listed how to do this in the Notes section of the pattern. I think you will like it!

While my blanket is made with this lovely Ivory/Cream color, you can make this in any color you like! As long as you’re using a worsted weight #4 yarn, you can make this blanket.

Okay, let’s get to this! If you like the printable pattern without the ads, you may purchase it here or scroll to see the full, free pattern below!

Materials:

4 Lion Brand Yarn Color Theory worsted weight #4 yarn in Ivory  246 yds & 100 g per skein convenient kit HERE

  Pattern uses approximately 340 g

US Size 8  5.0mm, 28” – 36”, circular knitting needles (blanket is knit flat)

Scissors

Tapestry needle to weave in ends

Size (approximate):

27” X 30”

Gauge:

Approximately 20 sts and 30 rows in 4” x 4”

Pattern Notes:

You will begin with a garter stitch border. Next, you will move into the pattern repeat which includes a garter trim on each of the sides.  Finally, a garter stitch edge is knit to finish the blanket.

The pattern calls for circular needles in order to comfortably hold all of the stitches on the needles, but the blanket is knit flat.

Adjusting Size:

Length Adjustments: Simply follow the pattern until your blanket is the desired length (keep in mind the final garter stitch edge length as well).

Width Adjustments: The Basketweave stitch uses a multiple of 12+ 3. To work a practice swatch, consider casting on 27 sts to work the pattern. Keep yarn needs in mind when adjusting the length and width of the blanket!

Enjoy!
