Our Summer Memories

I become so wrapped up with yarn that I sometimes fail to write simple updates about life.  Summer has gone by so incredibly fast and my baby is about to start kindergarten! Today I wanted to share a few photos and memories of this summer before she heads off to school. After all, my blog began as a way to not only to log and share my yarny projects but have some place to keep some special memories and happenings.  So here’s to summer 201 7!  Did you make any special memories?

I take my yarn wherever I go, do you?

This was a beautiful yet scary drive.  I’m sure I drove my hubby nuts by repeating, “Why is there no guard rail, why is there no guard rail?” Lol! But the views were some of the best I’ve EVER seen.

At 12,000 feet on Independence Pass near Aspen. We had a lovely camping trip in the area with friends.

If anything defined this summer, it was the chickens.  We are calling it the year of the chicken. 😉  When we bought them back in March they were just hatched and fit in the palm of our hands. It was wild to watch them grow and turn into these big ole’ chickens that are now giving us eggs every day!

The chickens are super friendly and are happy to let you hold them or eat treats from your hands.

Meet DJ (named by my daughter) She’s our best egg layer so far

We also spent some time around water both here in Colorado and on our trip to Florida.  We so enjoyed Clearwater Beach, Florida and our time at Disney.   We love visiting our family around the country (and world – my husband’s family is in Poland and Canada), but this was a trip just for us and it was so special.

And there was a lot of yarn around my house this summer! Lazy days with yarn are some of the best days.

Ruby the Frenchie is still my knitting buddy

I hope that you had a nice summer and were able to spend quality time with those who you love.

XO

Jessica

  1. Lovely pictures , love the views and I know exactly what you mean about the guard rail Not being there. The first time I drove in the mountains it was just like that , when I got to the bottom I parked and cried. Your daughter is beautiful and I could tell you’ll had a great time. Look forward to your next pattern.

  4. Love your pictures! They are adorable and the mountains so beautiful. I am from Iowa and my son is hoping to get married in Oct. in the mountains. Your patterns are equally beautiful and I want to try my hand on the knit heirloom blanket, I am a advanced beginner, so I think I will be just fine. Love your other crochet patterns too! Cindy B.

    1. Thanks so much Cindy!

Congrats to your son on preparing to tie the knot. How very exciting for you!

  5. Hi, I´m from Czech Republic (next to Poland). I like wide open spaces, high mountains, trees and your patterns :-). Have a nice fall and good luck to your daughter.

    1. We like all the same things. Thanks Renata! I’ve been to Prague once and it was gorgeous-love that part of the world. Thanks for all your kind words!

  6. Love your pattern and can’t wait to get started. Now, I have to wait for the yarn. I’m handicapped and rely on the web for most of my knitting needs. Where else can I find other patterns of yours? I’m 63 and learned in my 20’s. Everything has changed so much! I’m learning all over again. A beginner! I could knit just about anything now, now, I panic at double point needles! I love circular needles though. I also love making shawls but I stink at yarn overs. There must be a trick to it, I’ve tried time and time again and it just looks like giant holes in my work. Maybe you can give me a hint.
